Our business ethics are simple and straightforward; to put our clients needs first, to provide a quality service, to be courageous, courteous, transparent, honest, efficient and effective.

Corporate responsibility lies at the heart of our business strategy and has two main objectives:

  • to align our corporate responsibility activities closely to our core business as Lawyers & Mediators and to our business priorities and those of our clients, for the benefit of all our stakeholders
  • to be recognised by all our stakeholders as an organisation that strives to be a responsible corporate citizen in all our relationships
     

Ideas for Positive Change

Our corporate responsibility strategy is encapsulated by making a Positive Impact on others, which is all about how, in the actions we take, we are able to have a positive impact on society. Our approach encapsulates who we are as a firm.

Our Positive Change programme concentrates on four areas:

  • Community: Building and maintaining sustainable community relationships.  We also support local charities and organisations, from a mixture of fundraising and volunteering activities. We work with the University of Derby supporting and mentoring their law students, providing our Principals time in her role as governor to Allestree Woodlands School and delivering updates at events with the local Derby Equality & Diversity Network.
  • Environment: Demonstrating our environmental responsibility in all our operations and minimising the environmental impacts associated with our activities, products and services.  We aim to utilise best practice in our office environment, not wasting paper and other resources, travelling only when necessary, using SKYPE and other IT facilities for meetings and engaging and informing our staff about the important role they play.
  • Marketplace: Working collaboratively in the marketplace to evidence best practice aligned with our vision to be the first choice for legal advice for organisations and for individuals. A number of cases per annum are supported by Pro bono advice by our legal advisers. We are happy to work with clients to deliver their corporate responsibility goals, including joint volunteering, fundraising, sporting challenges and sharing best practice.
  • Workplace: Promoting a positive, professional and co-operative working culture where everyone is valued. We ask for, listen to and act on the views of our people; we creatively promote work/life balance and actively promote equality of opportunity.
